Position Overview
Title: Programs & Events Coordinator
Reports to: President/CEO
Classification: Full-Time, Exempt
Location: Chamber Office, with frequent local travel to member businesses and event venues

Required Qualifications:- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
- 1–2 years of relevant event planning or program management experience (nonprofit or membership organization experience a plus)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal and customer service mindset
- Demonstrated initiative, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Canva, and social media platforms; database/CRM experience preferred
- Flexible schedule to support morning/evening events
- Ability to pass reasonable fitness and physical standards to safely perform essential functions of the job
Your Role and Responsibilities
As the Programs & Events Coordinator, you will be instrumental in delivering meaningful experiences that connect, educate, and celebrate our members and the Portland community.
Event & Program Leadership:- Plan and manage all aspects of Chamber events and programs (e.g., Leadership Portland, Chamber University, Ambassador Program)
- Execute event logistics, including venue coordination, promotion, volunteer engagement, registration, and onsite presence
- Collaborate with sponsors, partners, and vendors to deliver high-quality experiences
- Track success metrics and implement strategies for continuous improvement
- Recruit and secure sponsorships for programs & events
- Cultivate relationships with members and sponsors, serving as a professional, reliable Chamber representative
- Create engaging content for newsletters, event calendars, and social media to drive attendance and visibility
- Serve as staff liaison to Ambassador and program committees, ensuring alignment with organizational goals
- Develop and manage budgets for events and programs with a focus on financial sustainability
- Secure sponsorships and generate non-dues revenue to support Chamber initiatives
- Maintain accurate records, thank supporters, and follow up to ensure lasting engagement
- Salary: $40,000–$45,000, based on experience
