Overview
Covenant Group, LLC. is seeking an experienced and strategic Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead the financial operations of our growing construction organization. This role will be responsible for financial planning, risk management, and providing leadership with the insights needed to drive continued growth and profitability across multiple divisions.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction finance, a hands-on leadership style, and the ability to operate both strategically and tactically in a fast-paced environment.Key Responsibilities- Oversee all financial operations including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting
- Lead financial planning and analysis to support company growth and project profitability
- Manage cash flow, banking relationships, and capital structure
- Develop and monitor financial KPIs across multiple construction projects and business units
- Ensure accurate job costing, WIP reporting, and revenue recognition
- Provide strategic financial guidance to ownership and executive leadership
- Oversee audit, tax, and compliance functions
- Implement and improve financial systems, controls, and processes
- Support estimating and operations teams with financial insights
- Manage and mentor accounting and finance staff
Requirements- 10 years proven experience as a Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in the construction industry (required)
- Strong understanding of construction accounting, including job costing, WIP schedules, and percentage of completion
- Experience managing multi-entity or multi-division organizations
- Demonstrated ability to lead financial strategy and support business growth
- Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills
- Experience with ERP/accounting systems used in construction environments
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred)
Preferred Qualifications- Experience in heavy civil, concrete, or multi-trade construction environments
- Experience with bonding, surety relationships, and lender reporting
- MBA or CPA designation
